Frankel appointed to PA Health Care Cost Containment Council

Agency monitors cost, quality of health care in Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG, Nov. 22 — State Rep. Dan Frankel, D-Allegheny, was recently appointed by Democratic Leader Rep. Joanna McClinton to the state agency charged with monitoring cost and quality of health care in the Commonwealth.

Frankel, who also serves as Democratic chairman of the House Health Committees, will serve a four-year term on the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council. The council was created in 1986 in a collaborative effort by business, labor, insurance and medical providers to contain health care costs and support high-value care. The council membership was updated last legislative cycle to include representatives from each of the four legislative caucuses.

Frankel thanked Leader McClinton for the opportunity to bring his longstanding efforts to ensure access to health care for all and to contain costs on behalf of all Pennsylvanians to the PHC4.

“I’m delighted to serve on the Health Care Cost Containment Council,” Frankel said. “The organization represents the kind of collaborative effort needed to promote high-value health care for Pennsylvanians. This is a rare venue where people from different sectors have the opportunity to work together – instead of pointing fingers – to get real data on what’s happening and how we can do it better.”
