HARRISBURG, Jan. 8 – State Rep. Carol Hill-Evans was officially sworn in Tuesday for her fifth two-year term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
The swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of the 2025-2026 legislative session, with members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives taking the oath of office.
In addition to her role as a legislator, Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton, D-Phila./Delaware, re-appointed Hill-Evans as majority chair of the State Government Committee and as a member of the Chesapeake Bay Commission. She first assumed both positions in the 2023-2024 legislative session.
“We led the most productive legislative session last year that I’ve seen since taking office in 2016, and I’m eager to build on that progress with even more bipartisan successes,” said Hill-Evans, D-York. “I’m determined to succeed in our efforts to deliver health, safety, and financial security to all Pennsylvanians. That includes continuing to shore up historically underfunded public schools, standing up to those who wish to take away women’s bodily autonomy, and making sure workers are treated fairly and provided the benefits they deserve.”
In October, the National Foundation for Women Legislators recognized Hill-Evans with the Elected Woman of Excellence Award for 2024 for her achievements as a lawmaker and the positive impact she’s made in York, earning praise from McClinton.
“Representative Hill-Evans is a strong voice for her neighbors in York and an asset to the Pennsylvania state House as chair of the powerful State Government Committee. Using her experience and her expertise, she has been a mentor to many members of our caucus,” McClinton said.
