HARRISBURG, Sept. 19 – State Rep. Carol Hill-Evans today issued a strong call to action regarding the health and well-being of children across the commonwealth.
In a statement underscoring the importance of providing comprehensive health care coverage for every child, she applauded the significant efforts of Family First Health, a local health care provider dedicated to ensuring children in schools are connected with the care they need.
“Our children are the future of Pennsylvania, and we owe it to them to make sure they have access to high-quality health care from an early age,” said Hill-Evans, D-York. “No child should go without the medical care they need, and it is our responsibility as policymakers, parents and community members to create a system that guarantees health coverage for every child.”
In Pennsylvania, thousands of children face the daily challenge of inadequate health care, a barrier that hinders their academic performance and long-term development. Hill-Evans emphasized that healthy children are better learners, and access to routine checkups, vaccinations, dental care and mental health services is crucial for every student’s success.
“Health care is not just about treating illnesses but about fostering an environment where children can thrive both in and outside the classroom,” she said. “When children are healthy, they are better able to focus, participate and succeed in school. Ensuring their well-being is a moral and practical imperative.”
Hill-Evans also recognized the tireless work of Family First Health. The nonprofit organization has taken innovative steps to bring health care directly to schools, ensuring that no child falls through the cracks. Their efforts have been instrumental in making sure that children and families are aware of and connected to affordable health care options, she said.
“Family First Health is a shining example of community-based health care at its best,” Hill-Evans said. “Through their partnerships with local schools, they have helped countless students access the care they need to lead healthy, productive lives. I commend their dedication to making sure every child is covered, regardless of their family’s financial situation.”
The representative also highlighted the importance of continuing legislative efforts aimed at expanding health care access for children, particularly those in underserved communities. She reaffirmed her commitment to working with her colleagues in Harrisburg to advocate for policies that close coverage gaps and enhance health care services for Pennsylvania’s youth.
“Organizations like Family First Health prove that when we work together, we can make a real difference. But there is still more work to be done,” she said. “We must continue pushing for policies that ensure every child in Pennsylvania has the health care coverage they need to succeed.”
Hill-Evans proudly represents Pennsylvania’s 95th District, serving the people of York. A dedicated advocate for education, economic development and community health, Hill-Evans works tirelessly to ensure that all Pennsylvanians have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
