Legislative Update, Protecting your health coverage; Opportunity for high school students

Protecting your health coverage

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives recently passed a series of bills aimed at protecting essential health care under the Affordable Care Act. The bills include provisions to cover preventive health services without cost-sharing, prevent lifetime caps on essential benefits, ensure young adults can stay on their parents' insurance until age 26, and protect coverage for pre-existing conditions.

These protections are crucial for Pennsylvanians’ health security, particularly as federal efforts to dismantle the ACA continue. The goal is to ensure that residents maintain access to essential health services, regardless of what happens at the federal level.

The bills now move to the Pennsylvania Senate for consideration. As the ACA marks its 15th anniversary, state leaders are urging swift action to enshrine these protections into state law, ensuring that all Pennsylvanians continue to have access to affordable, high-quality health care.
