HARRISBURG, April 13 -- State Rep. Chris Rabb, D-Phila, is advocating for formal acknowledgement of the extraordinary work of caregivers of Pennsylvania’s veterans through the Hidden Heroes campaign. “Many times, a veteran’s caregiver is a spouse, parent and other loved ones whose lives are transformed, their goals set aside, and they rearrange their lives to help the ones who sacrificed the most for us,” Rabb said. “We need to recognize that these women and men are heroes and sacrifice more than we currently understand.” The Hidden Heroes campaign is an initiative through the Elizabeth Dole Foundation that seeks to raise awareness of the struggles of these special caregivers. PHILADELPHIA, March 6 – State Rep. Chris Rabb, D-Phila., announced today that more than $10,000 in cultural and historical grants through the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission have been awarded to Chestnut Hill Conservancy and Historical Society and Cliveden for general operating support. “Our history grounds us, it informs us of how we got where we are,” Rabb said. “Funding that helps the organizations and institutions that preserve our history is truly invaluable. I’m so pleased to see Chestnut Hill Conservancy and Historical Society and Cliveden receive these state dollars.” A grant for $5,655 was awarded to Chestnut Hill Conservancy and Historical Society and a grant for $4,481 was awarded to Cliveden. To be considered for a grant award, an eligible museum must have had an annual operating budget exceeding $100,000, excluding capital and in-kind services, and at least one full-time professional staff person. The grants Rabb announced are among 153 awards totaling $2 million that were approved on Wednesday, to eligible museums and official county historical societies from 58 Pennsylvania counties. Chris Rabb, D-Phila., and members of the House Democratic Policy Committee held a hearing Tuesday, Feb. 25 to discuss voting and elections after recent historic changes were made to the state’s voting laws. “Voting is one of the most cherished rights endowed to the people in this country,” Rabb said. “When we cast our ballot, we’re giving voice to our values by choosing the people we want to serve as our representatives in the spheres that govern many aspects of our lives and determine how our resources are spent. PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 3 – State Rep. Chris Rabb, D-Phila., will host a Thankful Thursday event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Thursday at the Wadsworth Library, 1500 Wadsworth Ave., 19150. The event will focus on how people can protect themselves and their loved ones against scams and fraud and allow Rabb to discuss legislation he recently introduced to compensate Pennsylvanians exonerated for wrongful convictions. An expert from the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office will be in attendance to talk avoiding scams and being the victim of fraud. Rabb will discuss legislation he recently introduced which would compensate Pennsylvanians who are exonerated for wrongful convictions. Pennsylvania is one of only 15 states without a law to compensate the innocent for years lost after a wrongful conviction. Wrongful convictions often leave those people who are exonerated in the difficult position of reentering society after a period of incarceration without any services or money. Wrongful convictions have resulted in lawsuits that have cost Pennsylvanians millions of dollars. Rabb’s legislation would allow people who can demonstrate proof of their innocence to be eligible for a sum of money per each year they were incarcerated, as well as social services that would help them rejoin their communities.
