Once one of Philadelphia’s most structurally deficient school buildings, the Lewis C. Cassidy Elementary School has been replaced with a brand-new facility. PA state Rep. Morgan Cephas was instrumental in securing funding for the project and helped cut the ribbon. Cephas also had the opportunity to interview Chelsea Mongue, the former student of Cassidy Elementary who brought statewide attention to the deplorable conditions in the old school building.
