Cephas announces relaunch of Senior Ride Program with Uber
Rep. Morgan B. Cephas July 9, 2026 | 2:25 PM
PHILADELPHIA, July 9 – State Rep. Morgan Cephas, D-Phila., announced Uber has relaunched its Senior Ride Program in partnership with ACHIEVEability for a limited time starting July 1. The program will provide one $50 voucher per participant to qualifying seniors.
The Uber Senior Ride Program is designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their comfort level with technology. The program will provide promotional codes and ride vouchers to seniors who have smartphones and the Uber app. For those who don’t, ACHIEVEability staff will act as “transportation hubs,” directly scheduling rides for seniors.
“I am proud to relaunch Uber’s Senior Ride Program and continue our work with ACHIEVEability,” said Cephas. “We found great success last year, working together to enable our neighbors to gain a new sense of confidence and freedom. This program provides more than rides. It ensures seniors can reach their doctors and other essential services independently, removing transportation as a barrier to essential care and basic needs. With this limited-time relaunch, we can serve even more seniors across our city.”
Cephas initiated a pilot program with Uber for free rides during SEPTA service cuts in the summer of 2025 to ensure that area seniors who rely on public transportation would be able to reach their doctor appointments, do their grocery shopping, pick up medication, or meet other critical needs. That pilot program was highly successful, facilitating over 1,000 total rides. In March, the program expanded to serve Northeast Philadelphia in partnership with Klein Life.
