Hill-Evans: Funding awarded to city of York & YCP projects

YORK, Feb. 13– Two projects that will benefit residents in the 95th Legislative District were recently awarded grant funding, state Rep. Carol Hill-Evans, D-York, announced today.
City of York - $5,000 from the Susquehanna River Basin Commission.
The funding will support the city’s project to create a Stormwater Asset Management Program and comes through SRBC’s Stream & Watershed Enhancement Grant program, which helps fund community projects to restore or improve the basin’s waterways.
“The infrastructure that makes up the city’s stormwater management system is aging,” Hill-Evans said. “Instead of waiting for something to go wrong, the city’s MS4 coordinator, Lettice Brown, and the rest of the Department of Public Works are taking a proactive approach and using new technology to digitize our entire stormwater infrastructure. This will show them which areas need the most urgent repairs and help them plan and execute improvements. The city will use the grant to pay for training for personnel on how to use the software,” Hill-Evans said.
Hill-Evans said she plans to play an active role in maintaining York’s waterways. In March 2023, PA House Speaker Joanna McClinton appointed her to serve on the Chesapeake Bay Commission for the 2023-24 legislative session.
York College of Pennsylvania - $35,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
The funding comes from the It’s On Us PA program, which aims to end campus sexual assault by bringing together college and university presidents, superintendents, administrators, teachers, students, families and community members to reframe the conversation around sexual violence and pledge to be part of the solution.
YCP detailed how it will use the funding – including on-campus events to educate students about identifying and preventing sexual violence and misconduct – on its website.
