Carroll applauds over $900,000 in grant funding coming to his district

Rep. Andre D. Carroll, has announced more than $900,000 in grant funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority will support multiple renovation projects within his legislative district.
Carroll said that the following projects in his district have been awarded funding from the Local Share Account within the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act :
- $11,916 to Germantown United CDC for the Pickett Plaza Greenspace Conversion.
- $100,000 to Why Not Prosper Inc. for the purchase of a vehicle.
- $737,720 to Covenant House Pennsylvania for the renovation and rehabilitation of the Safe Haven Emergency Shelter.
“These investments represent a commitment to strengthening our neighborhoods and supporting the organizations that serve our community every day,” said Carroll. “From transforming Pickett Plaza into a welcoming greenspace, to expanding Why Not Prosper’s capacity to reach residents, to renovating Covenant House’s Safe Haven Emergency Shelter, these grants will have a real and lasting impact across our district.”
Carroll also applauded the following city-wide grant, which will send allocated funds to his district to implement a recycling and trash program at 35 city-owned recreation centers within Philadelphia:
- $64,303 for rec center improvements.
“I’m also pleased to see citywide funding for recycling and trash improvements at recreation centers, including those here in our community, ensuring our public spaces are cleaner, and more accessible for families,” Carroll said. I’m grateful to our partners at the state and city levels for prioritizing these important projects and continuing to invest in the well-being of our neighborhoods.”
The PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects in the public interest within Pennsylvania. Eligible projects include acquisition, construction, renovation and rehabilitation, demolition, infrastructure, purchase of vehicles, machinery and equipment, planning, consulting and design costs related to projects, engineering, and some administrative costs.
