Rep. Frank Burns held a ceremony honoring a Dysart native who was killed while serving his nation in World War II when his destroyer was sunk during the invasion of Italy. The ceremony designating the Seaman 2nd Class Louis J. Benzie WWII Memorial Bridge on state Route 53. Benzie was killed in action at the age of 18, when the destroyer he was serving on, the U.S.S. Maddox, was attacked by a German dive bomber while on an anti-submarine patrol.
