Rep. Burns (left) recently presented a citation to Justin Wheeler, head coach of the Bishop Guilfoyle High School football team, which won its third consecutive PIAA Class A championship. Wheeler, of Gallatzin, is only the 11th coach in Pennsylvania history to win three state titles. His team has won 47 consecutive games, including a 15-0 record this past season.

I have closely followed -- and rooted for -- Cresson native Josh Gallagher, who is now a finalist on NBC's "The Voice." Josh is extremely talented, and I support his efforts to promote our area to a national audience in a positive way.

The Rotary Club of Ebensburg has made inestimable contributions to our community, so Rep. Burns was proud to present club president Jeff Kuncelman with a House citation acknowledging the group's 70th anniversary.

Learning is a lifelong endeavor, so Rep. Burns relishes invitations to speak to students like these in the Penn Cambria School District's class on Money and Civic Life. They learn about budgeting, financial responsibility, entrepreneurship and community service. They also examine political, economic and social issues through current events and debates.

Rep. Burns recently presented a House citation to Kristopher Mulevhill, who used the Heimlich maneuver he learned at Camp Cadet of Cambria County to save his father's life. Kristopher also was selected the camp's top male cadet in 2014. It is a pleasure to recognize such a fine young man.

Rep. Frank Burns presents Larry Irvin and William Turner from the 5th Division of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary with a House citation on its 75th anniversary. Originally formed as the Volunteer Reserve of the U.S. Coast Guard in June 1939, the auxiliary is one of the nation's premier organizations, providing 2 million hours of volunteer service to the Coast Guard and boating public each year. It annually saves hundreds of lives, rescues hundreds of stranded boaters and retrieves millions of dollars of property.
