State gives $1.5 million for Ebensburg Ambulatory Care Center

EBENSBURG, Nov. 5 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria/Somerset, today announced the awarding of $1.5 million in state economic development funding for Conemaugh Health System's Ebensburg Ambulatory Care Center.

"This funding will help ensure that residents of northern Cambria County have access to urgent care and a variety of other medical services under one roof," Burns said. "The resulting ambulatory care center will provide more doctor and hospital services, which will create better patient access and more convenience for those services.

"I am pleased to have worked with the Democratic leader, and ultimately the governor, to get the funding approved for this worthwhile project."

Burns said the funding comes from the state's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program. The program provides state grant funding for regional economic, cultural, civic and historical improvement projects.

A project must be authorized in a Capital Budget Project Itemization Act, which is passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by the governor, before it can be considered for funding. The governor ultimately decides which projects receive funding.
