Area arts organizations to receive $22,334 from state grant program

HARRISBURG, Aug. 22 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria/Somerset, announced today that three area arts organizations will share in $22,334 in grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

"It is grants such as these that enable our local arts organizations to entertain and inspire us," Burns said. "The arts as a whole play an important role in our communities and enrich our lives."

The following entities received grants to support their organizations:

  • Cresson Lake Playhouse, Ebensburg -- $4,362
  • Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance, Loretto -- $2,270
  • Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, Loretto -- $15,702

The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, founded in 1966, is governed by a 19-member council whose mission is to foster the excellence, diversity and vitality of the arts in Pennsylvania, and to broaden the availability and appreciation of those arts throughout the commonwealth.
