State funding awarded to Kress Motors, Blacklick Valley ambulance service

HARRISBURG, Aug. 6 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria/Somerset, today announced that a Windber business and a Nanty Glo emergency service company are receiving financial assistance from the state.

Kress Motors LLC of Windber has been approved for a $100,000 Ben Franklin investment. The investment will help the company develop a patented, electric motor and drive technology that can be licensed to other electric motor producers.

Blacklick Valley Foundation and Ambulance Service Inc. has been approved for a low-interest $47,404 loan to refinance the purchase of its 2005 ambulance. The low-interest loan was approved by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency through the State Fire Commissioner's Office.

"The purpose of Ben Franklin Technology Partners is to grow small business while promoting job creation," Burns said. "Kress Motors fits that bill.

"Our firefighters and emergency service personnel are important resources to our local communities, and I'm glad the state recognizes that."

Ben Franklin Technology Partners is an initiative of the Department of Community and Economic Development, provides funding, operational assistance and entrepreneurial support to emerging tech-based companies and small, existing manufacturers to create and retain jobs in the state.
