HARRISBURG, July 19 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria/Somerset, announced that two municipalities in the 72nd Legislative District will receive state grants through the Host Municipal Inspector Grant Program.
A $20,358 grant will be awarded to Shade Township in Somerset County, and a $1,417 grant will be awarded to the Cambria County Solid Waste Authority. Both grants will be used to reimburse the entities for half of the cost of employing a host municipal inspector.
The Host Municipal Inspector Grant Program, within the state Department of Environmental Protection, provides funding for municipalities that host municipal waste landfills, resource recovery (waste to energy) facilities and commercial hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal facilities.
