State grant awarded for hazardous waste event in Cambria County

HARRISBURG, July 19 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria/Somerset, announced that Keep PA Beautiful, Cambria County, has been awarded a state Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant.

The $985 grant will be used to reimburse the organization for half of the costs incurred for developing and operating a household hazardous waste collection event at the Croyle and Cambria township municipal buildings and the Patton Memorial Football Field from April 27 through May 18.

"These types of grants help us dispose of paint products, pesticides and other potentially toxic items that could harm our environment if not disposed of properly," Burns said. "Keep PA Beautiful should be commended for working to protect our environment and keep our neighborhoods clean."

The Pennsylvania Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant Program was established under Act 190 of 1996, which authorized programs to collect and manage household hazardous waste. Most ongoing programs collect this waste once a year at drop-off sites, while others offer these services throughout the year.
