Burns sworn in to third term as state representative

HARRISBURG, Jan. 1 – At a ceremony at the state Capitol today, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria/Somerset, was sworn in to represent the people of the 72nd Legislative District.

The swearing-in ceremony in the House chamber marked the beginning of the 197th legislative session. The state constitution mandates that the legislature convene at noon on the first Tuesday in January.

"For the third time, I was humbled today as I was sworn in to represent the people of the 72nd District," Burns said. "I look forward to working on my priorities and continuing to serve my constituents in the upcoming legislative session."

The 72nd Legislative District includes part of Cambria County, including Blacklick, Cambria, East Taylor, Jackson, Lower Yoder, Middle Taylor, Upper Yoder and West Taylor townships, and the boroughs of Ebensburg, Nanty Glo, Scalp Level and Vintondale. It also includes part of Somerset County, including Conemaugh, Jenner, Ogle, Paint, Quemahoning and Shade townships, and the boroughs of Benson, Boswell, Central City, Hooversville, Paint, Stoystown and Windber.
