Area historical society, museum to receive state grant

HARRISBURG, Sept. 24 – Two historical organizations are the recipients of state grants from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, state Rep. Frank Burns announced today.

The Cambria County Historical Society will receive $8,000, and the Johnstown Area Heritage Association will receive $22,800.

"These grants are designed to support museums and county historical societies with their general operations," Burns said. "These official organizations are repositories for our history, which helps us to remember where we came from, so it's important that they are maintained."

These Cultural and Historical Support Grants from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission were two of 173 awarded statewide.
