Burns’ work yields $30,000 grant for Ebensburg Youth Little League

Lake Field, Lions Field complexes get efficient LED lighting

EBENSBURG, Sept. 23 – State Rep. Frank Burns’ ability to deliver is providing a safer and more enjoyable baseball experience for 225 children who use two fields utilized by the Ebensburg Youth Little League, which is getting a $30,000 state grant to install modern LED lighting.

Burns, D-Cambria, traces this funding success to his attendance of the 75th anniversary celebration of the EYLL, where he met with coaches and players, and to his interaction with organization representative Tim Scanlan.

“I was approached about the league trying to raise money for new, more efficient lights at their ballfields – an upgrade many other athletic organizations in our region have done – and I set about finding a way to meet that need,” Burns said.

“The funding I delivered – and I do mean “I” – will replace decades-old halogen lights at Lake Field and Lions Field with modern, more efficient LED lights. The Ebensburg Youth Little League knows what I’ve done and is the best source for truth and believability on the role I played in obtaining this grant.”

“The $30,000 secured by Representative Burns got us to a point where our project could become a reality at both fields … We would have been unable to complete this project in such a timely manner without the time and dedication of Representative Burns and his staff … Our organization will be forever grateful.”Board of Directors, Ebensburg Youth Little League.

The Ebensburg Youth Little League Board of Directors put out the following statement, supplied by Scanlan, regarding the grant:

“Our youth baseball league, which recently celebrated its 75th season this past summer, approached Representative Frank Burns in late 2023 to seek out financial assistance in obtaining new lights at both our Lake and Lions Field complexes in Ebensburg. The $30,000 secured by Representative Burns got us to a point where our project could become a reality at both fields. This light project is meant to replace a very dated system with new, more efficient LED lights.

“Our two fields support approximately 225 children in the Ebensburg Area and the lights will allow us to continue our decades-long tradition of nighttime doubleheaders at each field. Additionally, the new lights will provide a safer and more enjoyable baseball experience for both the kids and fans alike.

“Representative Burns and his staff were extremely helpful in seeking out the correct type of grant and guiding us through the application process. We would have been unable to complete this project in such a timely manner without the time and dedication of Representative Burns and his staff.  We are extremely appreciative of their assistance. We could not have navigated the process to secure these much-needed funds without them. Our organization will be forever grateful.”
