Burns brings home nearly $1 million for community road, bridge projects

HARRISBURG, March 26 – Nearly $1 million in grant funding is headed to Cambria County to repair roads and bridges in Dale, Brownstown and Franklin boroughs thanks to the efforts of Rep. Frank Burns who worked tirelessly to secure the highly competitive state funding.

“This is big news for these communities,” Burns said. “Small towns like many I represent could never afford to make these major investments without state funding. I’ve made it my mission to support our communities by helping them to secure grant funds that make projects like these possible.”

Dale Borough will use its $443,800 to make repairs to the Maintenance Building Bridge, the Anne Street Bridge and the Pedestrian Bridge.

Brownstown will use $200,000 to improve several roads in the community, and Franklin will take its $300,000 to reconstruct Pine, Locust and Spruce streets.

The Multimodal Transportation Fund from the Commonwealth Financing Authority provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
