Burns announces $4 million for Lower Yoder sewer project
Brings total investment in township project to $25.6 million

EBENSBURG, Jan. 29 – Continuing his efforts to secure state funding for vital infrastructure improvements, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, today announced a $4 million funding package to help Lower Yoder complete a major sewer project.
“As a state representative, I’ve helped Lower Yoder Township secure $25.6 million to fund these much-needed sewer upgrades, costs which otherwise would have been paid for by the community,” Burns said. “I’m always looking for opportunities to bring money back to our region, to make the critical investments that we need in order for our communities to get ahead.”
The funding announced today includes a $3.4 million grant and $600,000 low-interest loan from PennVest with a 1% interest rate. In 2015 and 2016, PennVest also awarded more than $21.6 million in funding to the township to help with the costs of a multi-year sewer project to address inflow and infiltration in the system.
As part of this year’s project, 18,000 feet of sewer line will be rehabilitated, and 72 manholes installed, along with 1,350 feet of storm water collection to eliminate storm water inflow.
Burns said that addressing his district’s outdated infrastructure has been one of his top priorities since taking office, and that he has helped secure more than $79 million in PennVest funding for projects across the district since 2009.
