PA House passes WIC online eligibility legislation

HARRISBURG, June 22 – A bill (H.B.665) sponsored by state Rep. Donna Bullock, D-Phila., that would clarify that eligibility documentation may be submitted online to Women, Infants and Children prior to an eligibility meeting passed the Pennsylvania House of Representatives by a vote of 176-27.

This legislation would give applicants to WIC the option to submit documentation electronically to a local WIC program agency prior to their eligibility appointment.

“The goal should be to make the process as accessible as possible for every person that needs access to this important nutrition program,” Bullock said. “Pennsylvania's families deserve a modernized, accessible system that works for them and not against them.”

The bill will go to the Pennsylvania Senate for consideration.
