MONROEVILLE, Dec. 18 – State Rep. Brandon Markosek, D-Allegheny, announced today that $1.4 million in state grant funding has been awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support a range of projects across his legislative district.
“Public safety is at the core of these investments,” Markosek said. “This funding will strengthen emergency services, improve road conditions, support local police departments and address long-standing infrastructure needs so communities are safer and better prepared.”
The following projects were awarded funding:
- $200,000 to the Turtle Creek Council of Governments on behalf of Eastern Area Prehospital Services to construct a new operations center in Turtle Creek to house emergency vehicles, employee facilities, records storage and act as an emergency evacuation center.
- $200,000 to East McKeesport Borough to reconstruct several deteriorated roads in the borough.
- $115,910 to Turtle Creek Borough to repair and repave portions of Monroeville Avenue, Milton Street and Beech Street.
- $93,637 to Wilmerding Borough for ADA upgrades to the municipal building’s entrance way and ramp to improve access for all individuals.
- $78,037 to North Versailles Township to purchase three new police vehicles to replace existing aging models.
- $65,043 to East McKeesport Borough for the purchase and upfitting of a 2025 Ford Interceptor SUV that will replace an aging model in the police department’s fleet.
Markosek also worked with state Rep. Joe McAndrew, D-Allegheny, to secure $650,000 in funding for Plum Borough to complete stormwater improvements at Center Beach, which was damaged by flooding in 2019. The upgrades include stream modifications, reconstructed ponds and park amenities to reduce stormwater flow.
The LSA funding comes from the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects in the public interest and improve the quality of life of citizens in the community.
