Markosek and Pisciottano announce $250,000 in grants to support local first responders

MONROEVILLE, Sept. 10 – State Rep. Brandon Markosek and state Sen. Nick Pisciottano, both D-Allegheny, today announced $250,000 in state grant funding for two local fire companies to purchase equipment.

The grants were awarded as follows:

  • $180,000 to the Fire Department of North Versailles to purchase stretchers and necessary equipment
  • $70,000 to United Volunteer Fire and Rescue in East McKeesport to purchase self-contained breathing apparatus equipment and an EV plug

"When our firefighters have the right equipment, our whole community is safer," Markosek said. "I'm proud to have worked with Senator Pisciottano to secure this funding for our first responders and every resident who might one day need their help."

"Our firefighters give their time and risk their safety to protect our neighbors," Pisciottano said. “This funding gives them the tools they need to continue to provide lifesaving services to our communities."

Grant funding was awarded by the Department of Community and Economic Development.
