Abney: 19th District benefits from $3.8 million in grants

HARRISBURG, Dec. 18 — State Rep. Aerion Abney, D-Allegheny, today announced that nearly $3.8 million in grants has been awarded to 13 projects that will benefit the 19th Legislative District.

The grants come from Local Share Account funds and the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program, which are distributed by the state’s Commonwealth Financing Authority.

“These are worthwhile projects that will benefit Pittsburgh in many ways,” Abney said. "They will help renovate buildings, create public spaces, and provide ambulance services, among other things. I’m pleased to see these funds distributed back to our city for projects that will improve our quality of life.”

The projects receiving grants are:

  • Riverfront transformation, Carnegie Science Center: $100,000.
  • Pre-hospital response vehicles, Allegheny Health Network: $400,000.
  • Kitchen and daycare, Urban Impact Foundation: $100,000.
  • Chalfont Street Development Phase II, Beltzhoover Consensus Group: $100,000.
  • Community Hub on Hazelwood Green, Center of Life: $400,000.
  • Greenwood Smithfield redevelopment and Maker Space acquisition, The Greenwood Plan, $250,000.
  • Design and construction documents for renovation and expansion, Industrial Arts Workshop: $100,000.
  • Heinz Hall carpet replacement, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra: $200,000.
  • Renovation, historic Carnegie Library of Hazelwood: $400,000.
  • Safety & Operational Improvement renovations, NSCHC-Community Health Center: $332,758.
  • Expanded shelter, health, and nutrition access, Light of Life Ministries Inc.: $75,000.
  • Ambulance purchases, City of Pittsburgh: $1 million.
  • Water fleet renewal and expansion, Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority: $300,000
