Salisbury: $365K secured to fund District 34 renovation projects

Includes funding for Braddock Library improvements

BRADDOCK, Jan. 29 – Newly awarded grants totaling $365,000 will support renovation projects in the 34th Legislative District, state Rep. Abigail Salisbury announced today.

Salisbury, D-Allegheny, said some of the funding will help finalize renovations to the historic Braddock Carnegie Library.

“The new funding is supporting some exciting projects, including work to finalize key renovations and ADA modifications to the Braddock Library and work on the Wilford A. Payne Medical Center in Homewood,” Salisbury said. “Other funding will support office building upgrades in Wilkinsburg and bridge repairs in North Braddock. All these dollars are being invested to create safer, more accessible and more useful spaces for residents.”

Salisbury said the funding includes:

  • $140,000 to Braddock Carnegie Library Association for renovation work involving doors, insulation, carpentry, masonry, windows and ADA modifications.
  • $125,000 to Service Employees International Union Local 668 for renovation work to the SEIU 668 Wilkinsburg office, including installation of ADA-compliant ramps, interior construction and upgrades, roof repairs and lighting.
  • $50,000 to the borough of North Braddock to help fund the second phase of repairs to the Hawkins Avenue Bridge.
  • $50,000 to Primary Care Healthy Services Inc. to support construction work on the new PCHS Wilford A. Payne Medical Center.
