Markosek applauds $300,000 state funding for electric school buses in Plum Borough School District

PLUM, Dec. 12 – State Rep. Brandon Markosek, D-Allegheny, today announced that three new electric school buses will be coming to the Plum Borough School District, which was awarded $300,000 in funding through the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant program.

“This investment in clean energy technology is a win for both the environment and our community,” Markosek said. “By transitioning to electric school buses, Plum School District is taking an important step toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions while ensuring students have a safe and sustainable way to get to school. I’m proud to support this funding for local renewable energy initiatives and the positive impact it will have on protecting our environment.”

The AFIG program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, provides grants to help school districts, municipalities, nonprofit organizations and businesses in Pennsylvania replace older gasoline or diesel fueled vehicles and transition to cleaner fuel transportation. The program also funds the installation of fueling equipment for the vehicles.
