PITTSBURGH, April 15 – To assist constituents with safeguarding their personal and financial data, Rep. La’Tasha D. Mayes, D-Allegheny, announced that she will host a paper shredding event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20.
Mayes and staff will assist constituents with shredding paper at Vintage Center for Active Adults, 421 N. Highland Ave. in East Liberty. Constituents should pull up in their vehicles with items prepared for removal.
“More than 10 million Americans report incidents of identity theft,” Mayes said. “As such, I’m working with the Vintage Center for Active Adults to assist seniors in Pittsburgh more easily dispose of documents without fearing that their identity is at risk of being stolen.”
In addition to shredding paper, constituents will learn more about the services Mayes’ office provides, including assistance with applying for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, PACE and PACENET, the state’s prescription assistance programs and more.
