Venkat announces more than $715,000 to invest in the 30th Legislative District

Grants will invest in recreational facilities and infrastructure, as well as cap an abandoned well

FRANKLIN PARK, Jan. 16 – State Rep. Arvind Venkat, D-Allegheny, announced today that the Commonwealth Financing Authority awarded six grants totaling more than $715,000 to invest in infrastructure, recreational facilities, and an abandoned well closure in communities that he serves in the 30th Legislative District.

“With these six grants, we have the opportunity to improve services that residents regularly utilize, as well as enhance our environment,” Venkat said. “By investing in our economy and recreational facilities, as well as capping an abandoned well in the Toms Run and Tippery Meadows Natural Area, we will make improvements in the quality of life of residents of our community.”

CFA awarded funding from the Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund to four projects in Venkat’s district, including:

  • $215,000 to Franklin Park Borough to rehabilitate Acorn Park.
  • $165,000 to the Quaker Valley Council of Governments to repair Kilbuck Township’s sewers.
  • $75,000 to the McCandless Swimming Club to repair leaks.
  • $22,000 to Ohio Township to install new restrooms and utility extensions in recreational facilities.

Additionally, CFA awarded $98,931 from the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program to the Town of McCandless for the Parks Master Site Development Plan and Pine Creek Corridor Trail Feasibility Study, and $139,801 from the Orphan or Abandoned Well Plugging Program to Western Pennsylvania Conservancy for the capping of an abandoned well in the Toms Run and Tippery Meadows Natural Area.

Venkat said, “I am grateful to have worked with Senator Lindsey Williams and Senator Devlin Robinson to advocate successfully for these important investments in our community.”
