Allegheny County Delegation November 13, 2023 | 4:48 PM
HARRISBURG, Nov. 13 – Following the PA House’s passage of Owen's Law, sponsored by state Sen. Michele Brooks, R-Crawford, state Reps. Morgan Cephas, D-Phila.; Gina H. Curry, D-Delaware; and La’Tasha D. Mayes, D-Allegheny, issued the following statement:
“Owen’s Law would provide Medical Assistance coverage for pasteurized human donor breast milk for medically qualified infants, thereby making breast milk more accessible for children and their families.
“This source of nutrition is critical for the health and early growth of so many infants born prematurely or whose mother’s milk is counter-indicated for medical reasons. As co-chairs of the Pennsylvania Black Maternal Health Caucus, we will continue to support legislation that improves equitable access to services available to Black mamas, birthing people, and their children.”
The bill now heads to the Senate for concurrence.
