Rep. Dan B. Frankel June 16, 2023 | 2:26 PM
PITTSBURGH, June 16 – State Rep. Dan Frankel, D-Allegheny, joined faith and community leaders Friday outside the Allegheny County Courthouse to mark the murder conviction of the man who killed 11 Jews in their synagogues nearly five years ago.
Frankel noted that witnesses and survivors suffered anew to deliver some form of justice after an unspeakably destructive and evil crime.
“Let us remember that the survivors reopened these wounds for us, for humanity,” Frankel said. “Because there has to be a record. The work to hold back hateful ideologies and violence stands on history.”
Frankel, who is working to pass a package of bills to address and deter hate crimes in the Pennsylvania House, noted that all Pennsylvanians have a role in working for a safe and welcoming commonwealth.
“I thank our brave survivors for sharing their suffering so that we can protect against more suffering. And I promise to hold up my end of that deal, fighting those flames of hatred in Harrisburg and at home in Pittsburgh,” Frankel said.
