Abney: $291,990 awarded to local traffic signal projects
Funding awarded through state Green Light-Go program

PITTSBURGH, July 14 – State Rep. Aerion Andrew Abney, D-Allegheny, today announced the city of Pittsburgh will be receiving $291,990 in state grants to address several local traffic signal projects.
“These state grants will allow the city to start to address several issues at local intersections, including Jacksonia Street, which has been an issue for a number of years,” Abney said. “I’m thankful to see this investment in our communities, and I hope that given our new state budget, we will see more of the same in the year ahead.”
Funded by the state’s Green Light-Go program, grants awarded today to the city included:
- City of Pittsburgh – $195,990 for replacement of the traffic signal at Brighton Road and Jacksonia Street.
- City of Pittsburgh – $96,000 for traffic signal removal studies.
Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursement?s to municipalities for updates to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Grant funding through the Green Light-Go program may be utilized for a range of operational improvements including, but not limited to?, LED technology installation, traffic signal retiming, developing special event plans and monitoring traffic signals, as well as upgrading traffic signals to the latest technologies.
