Kinkead: $11 million-plus in state financing awarded to Allegheny Co. projects
Projects support affordable and safe housing, medical care for vulnerable residents and address food insecurity

BRIGHTON HEIGHTS, Nov. 10 – Projects supporting affordable housing, medical care, food insecurity and economic development in communities across Allegheny County have been selected to receive more than $11 million in state financing, state Rep. Emily Kinkead, D-Allegheny, announced today.
The funding was awarded under the state’s Neighborhood Assistance Program, which is designed to encourage investment in distressed communities by providing tax credits to businesses that donate capital.
“I want to congratulate all of the organizations that have been selected to receive this financing and look forward to seeing these projects making positive impacts in our local communities,” Kinkead said. “This financing by the state is an investment into our communities and will help with revitalization efforts throughout the region.”
Among the projects selected were:
- $1.3 million for the Pittsburgh Food Bank to continue their efforts in to feed those in need.
- $400,000 for Northside Leadership Conference to expand housing opportunities for lower income families and spur development and economic activity.
- $250,000 for Vision on Fifteenth in the Strip District, for a major redevelopment project of a formerly vacant lot on Smallman Street.
- $45,000 to Perry Hilltop Citizens Council to replace the roof and masonry of a building at 2115 Perrysville Ave., part of a project to create affordable housing and promote retail development.
