Rep. Venkat appointed to three PA House committees

Will use experience as an emergency physician to help champion legislation

HARRISBURG, March 10 – State Rep. Arvind Venkat, D-Allegheny, announced today that he has been appointed to three Pennsylvania House standing committees – Health, Insurance and Professional Licensure – for the 2023-24 legislative session.

“I am excited to start working with my colleagues in these committees to enact the best solutions and legislation for all Pennsylvanians,” Venkat said.

“As a practicing emergency physician, I have knowledge in the areas of health, insurance and licensure, and I am confident that I will be able to work to make health care more affordable and accessible in the areas that fall under these committees’ jurisdiction,” he said.

“I believe we can move forward in a bipartisan manner to relieve medical debt, cut red tape, expand insurance coverage, reduce the cost of health care, increase the health care workforce and improve the economic competitiveness of Pennsylvania. Membership on these committees will allow me to focus on these topics to the benefit of the residents of McCandless, Franklin Park, Ohio Township, Kilbuck, Emsworth, Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights and Western Hampton Township whom I have the privilege of representing."
