Group meets at Avonworth High School to discuss federal Inflation Reduction Act

OHIO Township, Feb. 9 – State Rep. Arvind Venkat, D-Allegheny, today joined Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland at Avonworth High School in Ohio Township for a meeting to discuss the impact of federal programs on local communities.

Haaland was on hand to discuss the federal Inflation Reduction Act’s investment in capping abandoned oil and gas wells to improve environmental quality and create good jobs.

“As an emergency physician who has treated thousands of patients with heart and lung conditions, I know firsthand how critical this effort is to improve the health of our communities,” Venkat said. “The federal Inflation Reduction Act is not just about lowering prices at the grocery store, but also makes smart investments across industries to build a better tomorrow for all of us.”

Venkat and Haaland were joined by Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, PA Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Rich Negrin, Avonworth School District Superintendent Jeff Hadley, officials from the governor’s office, and local labor and business leaders.
