$300,000 in funding for our community; Return your mail-in ballot; Wrapping up the term in Harrisburg – and more!

Return Your Mail-in Ballot

House Recognized Blood Donor Month

During our last voting session days of this term, the House passed my resolution, H.R. 648, to recognize January 2027 as National Blood Donor Month in Pennsylvania. It takes just 10 minutes to donate blood, but these 10 minutes can save a life. You can learn how to become a blood donor here.

New Funding for our Community

I am proud to share that our community has received over $300,000 in grant funding for new projects.

Through the Neighborhood Assistance Program, the North Hills Community Outreach and Holy Family Institute will receive funding to address housing costs and education access.

Ben Avon Heights will also receive $203,200 for the development of the Ben Avon Heights Park.

I will continue to advocate for state funding for important projects like these in our community.

Farewell to a Colleague – and other Harrisburg Updates

This week, I joined my colleagues from the Allegheny County Delegation in recognizing Rep. Anita Kulik, who is retiring at the end of this term. I consider myself lucky to have served with Rep. Kulik, who has been a role model for me and the other members of our delegation who were elected during her time in office.

Best wishes on your retirement, and thank you for your service to our community, region, and Commonwealth!

I joined the Pennsylvania Speech Language Hearing Association PSHA to urge the State Senate to pass H.B. 80, my bipartisan bill to authorize Pennsylvania to enter the Audiology-Speech Language Pathology Interstate Compact. Passed unanimously by the State House, this bill would bring more of these vital health professionals into our state.

It was a pleasure to meet community health workers from our region in the State Capitol this week. As an ER Doc, I know how important community health workers are for the health and well-being of so many across Pennsylvania. I will continue to advocate for legislation to support our community health workers and their efforts to help those in need.

Supporting our Local Businesses – and other District Updates

It was great to take part in the ribbon cutting for Riverstone Books’ new location in McCandless. This independent bookstore has been a pillar of our local business community and is much beloved by our residents. I wish them well on their new location, and thank them for the kind invitation.

Veena and I enjoyed attending the 22nd Annual Friendship Dinner hosted by the Turkish Cultural Center at the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Pittsburgh. Thank you for the kind invitation and the many contributions of the vibrant Turkish-American community to our region.

I got a behind-the-scenes look at the incredible work being done by Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh, which organizes a free dental and hearing services clinic each year at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, treating thousands of patients.

Many thanks to the healthcare providers, volunteers, and sponsors, who donated their services and funds to make this important event possible.

Recognizing our Local Students

The Avonworth Girls Soccer team won the 2A Section 3 Championship, with six team members being named All Section.

Twelve North Allegheny students have been accepted into the 2026 PMEA District 1 Honors Band, to be held on November 22 at North Hills High School, and 16 were selected to perform at the PMEA District 1 West Band based on their audition results at PMEA Honors Band. You can find the full list of students here.

Congratulations on these outstanding accomplishments!
