More than $120,000 awarded to fire and EMS companies serving the 82nd District

STATE COLLEGE, Feb. 14 -- Rep. Paul Takac, D-Centre, announced that more than $120,000 has been awarded from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program to eight Centre County fire and EMS companies that serve communities in the 82nd District.

The following fire and EMS companies received this funding to assist in equipment purchases, training, facility upgrades and other operational costs to help ensure Pennsylvania’s first responders have the resources needed to protect their communities:

Alpha Fire Company -- $16,322

Boalsburg Fire Company -- $15,891

Centre LifeLink EMS Inc. -- $15,000

Citizens Hook & Ladder Co. #1 of Milesburg -- $15,676

Howard Volunteer Fire Company -- $16,322

Pine Glen Fire Company -- $14,170

Snow Shoe Ambulance & Rescue -- $15,000

Snow Shoe Fire Company -- $12,663

“One of my key priorities in Harrisburg is supporting the remarkable men and women who invest so much of their time and talent - often without compensation - to staff our local fire and emergency medical services. They do a tremendous job serving our community. And yet, while I am delighted to announce these annual grant awards, I also recognize that they are not enough. The high cost of vehicles, equipment and training are a significant financial strain on these organizations. That is why I will continue to advocate and fight for additional funding to help take better care of those who take such good care of us."

Takac has helped bring more than $1.5 million to emergency services and first responder projects in the 82nd District since taking office in January 2023. He strongly supports Gov. Josh Shapiro’s recent budget proposal supporting the state’s firefighters and first responders, as the governor seeks additional grant funding for fire companies, cancer screenings for firefighters, and new pilot programs to help provide fire companies with the resources they need to work together.
