Takac commends major funding initiatives to protect and expand maternal health

HARRISBURG, Jan. 31 – State Rep. Paul Takac, D-Centre, said he is proud to announce significant funding initiatives totaling $1.8 million aimed at protecting and expanding maternal health services in central and south-central Pennsylvania. These initiatives feature annual $300,000 awards to both Penn State and the Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania Inc. through June 2027, to help develop regional healthcare coalitions that will be instrumental in advancing maternal health research and support programs.
Takac emphasized the importance of these initiatives in helping to ensure the well-being of mothers and families across the state. "Investing in maternal health care is investing in the future of our communities," said Takac. "This funding will provide critical resources to support maternal health services, ensuring that more mothers and babies have access to the care they need."
These $300,000 annual awards will be used to enhance research and develop innovative programs that address the unique challenges faced by mothers across Pennsylvania. This funding will support efforts to reduce rising mortality rates and improve maternal health outcomes, reduce health care disparities, and provide comprehensive care for mothers and their families.
"These awards are a testament to our commitment to advancing maternal health," Takac stated. "By leveraging the expertise and resources of Penn State and well-established community partners, we can and will make significant strides in improving the health and well-being of mothers throughout the state."
