Takac: Nearly $140,000 in new funding coming to District 82 fire and EMS companies

STATE COLLEGE, Feb. 15 -- Resources are coming to first responders in the 82nd Legislative District, thanks to $139,709 in new grant funding awarded under the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, state Rep. Paul Takac, D-Centre, announced today.

“With tight budgets and limited resources, fire and EMS companies face a constant challenge keeping first responders properly equipped and trained,” Takac said. “Securing this new funding will help ensure that these frontline heroes have the equipment and training they deserve and that departments have the funding they need for facility repairs, recruitment and retention and other expenses.”

Takac said the companies and funding include:

  • Alpha Fire Company (fire) – $16,952.
  • Bellefonte Emergency Medical Services (EMS) – $15,000.
  • Boalsburg Fire Co. (fire) – $16,757.
  • Centre LifeLink EMS Inc. (EMS) – $15,000
  • Citizens Hook & Ladder Co. #1 (fire) – $16,368.
  • Howard Volunteer Fire Company #1 Inc. (fire) – $16,952.
  • Pine Glen Fire Co. (fire) – $14,618.
  • Snow Shoe Ambulance & Rescue (EMS) – $15,000.
  • Snow Show Fire Company Borough (fire) – $13,062.

The Fire and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program is administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner and covers projects including facility construction and renovation; equipment purchase or repair; debt reduction; training and certification of members; and recruitment and retention; among other projects.
