College Township to receive grant from Green Light-Go Program

Established in 2013, the Green Light-Go Program seeks to improve traffic safety across the commonwealth.

COLLEGE TOWNSHIP, Aug. 14 – College Township will receive a Green Light-Go Program grant of $190,880 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Rep. Paul Takac, D-Centre, announced.

Green Light-Go grants reimburse municipalities for updates to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. The grants will be funded through appropriations in the 2023-24 state budget.

“The area along Benner Pike continues to see increased development and it is a primary road connecting communities within the 82nd Legislative District and the Centre Region. Since my time serving on College Township Council, traffic and pedestrian safety has always been one of my top priorities.” Takac said. “With this grant, we may begin to update traffic and vehicle detection in College Township and better assess traffic infrastructure needs for the future.”
