Takac: key investments will make change for Pa.

Education funding and investments in the economy will bring positive change to the commonwealth

HARRISBURG, March 7 – Poised to make change to Pennsylvania in this legislative session and beyond, Rep. Paul Takac said he supports the commonsense approach of Gov. Josh Shapiro’s inaugural state budget, including key investments in education, public safety, families and communities that will help transform the commonwealth.

“I appreciated Governor Shapiro's call for us to come together and to craft a budget that truly puts people first by making historic investments in our schools, our kids, and our families,” said Takac. "These investments will strengthen public safety and our communities in Pennsylvania and will also support working families to help create an economy that works for everyone.” said Rep. Takac.

“Equitably funding public education, repairing crumbling schools, strengthening apprenticeship programs, addressing mental health, and combatting hunger will help ensure that every student has an opportunity to succeed and to meet the challenges of the 21st century, regardless of their zip code” said Takac.

“I also support Gov. Shapiro’s emphasis on better supporting those who give back so much to our communities through new tax incentives for teachers, nurses and law enforcement,” said Takac. “We must help attract and retain folks who can fill these critical, high need positions.”

“This proposed budget prioritizes helping people and local businesses deal with ongoing economic challenges. That includes expanding the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program to assist seniors and those on fixed incomes, funding economic development and community revitalization programs, lowering business taxes, and investing in rural broadband.” said Takac.

“We have an unprecedented opportunity to come together, put aside politics-as-usual, and deliver solutions that work for everyone in this commonwealth. I look forward to working with my colleagues to help ensure a healthy and prosperous future for all Pennsylvanians.” said Takac.
