Scott applauds $300K for housing projects

NORRISTOWN, Aug. 24 – State Rep. Greg Scott, D-Montgomery, today applauded $300,000 in state funding directed to Norristown for housing rehabilitation related to 2021’s Hurricane Ida.

The funding comes from the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery program. It is one of two awards announced in Montgomery County.

The grants can be used for housing assistance, including rehabilitation, multifamily housing development, infrastructure improvements, and mitigation.

“Even five years later, the impact of Hurricane Ida is felt in our community,” said Scott. “This funding will help Norristown continue to mitigate the damage we suffered from the storm.”

The municipality will use the funds for a housing program that aims to rehabilitate five or six owner-occupied housing units.
