PDE grant to prevent, respond to violence and hate in schools

WEST MIFFLIN, March 20 – State Rep. Nick Pisciottano today announced West Mifflin Area School District has been awarded more than $916,000 from the PA Department of Education to support safe and healthy learning environments in its schools.

“When we invest in public education, we’re investing in our future,” said Pisciottano. “As our world becomes more and more digital, students are facing a lot of social challenges in schools that didn’t exist before. These funds will provide support resources at West Mifflin to help students and staff succeed.”

Pisciottano said the grant comes from the federal Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, Stronger Connections Grant program and that more than $39 million was awarded to 39 school entities in 21 counties across the state through this round of the program’s funding.
