WEST MIFFLIN, Nov. 21 – A state grant for $250,000 has been awarded to the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, state Rep. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, announced today.
“Trade schools are fundamental to growing our workforce and economy in Allegheny County,” said Pisciottano. “We’re very lucky to host one of the country’s finest aircraft mechanic schools and I’m grateful to support their programming through this grant.”
The school plans to use the grant to fund upgrades to its Composite Materials Facility.
Located at 5 Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin, the PIA Pittsburgh Campus boasts more than 100,000 square feet of classrooms, shops, labs and hangar space specifically designed for the most effective hands-on training environment.
The funds are sourced from a grant program administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development.
