Cheltenham PD Hiring – Deadline to Apply Oct. 6! The Cheltenham Police Department is looking for police officers. The exam date is Saturday, Oct. 12, and the last day to sign up is Sunday, Oct. 6. For more information, click here.
Community Farmers Market: Fall in love with the shops on High School Rd and fresh produce from the local soils of Wyncote Farm! This event will feature face painting, local artists, vendors, music, and more. Parking in the train station lot.

Year of the Mushroom: Join us for a mushroom tour inside High School Park with Rita Berson. Rita will lead the group in and around the 11 acres looking for these valuable fungi. Learn where and why they grow, and their important role in the health of the environment. You will be walking through the woods, so consider wearing closed-toe shoes and long pants. No registration required.

Climate Circle: CTLS is partnering with the township’s Environmental Advisory Council and Friends of High School Park to bring the community together to learn more about climate change and its impact on global, local, and individual levels. Before each meeting, we’ll read an article or listen to a podcast episode to start the discussion. Registration required here.

Learn to Fish with TTF: Join TTF for another Learn to Fish event! Whether you’re new to fishing or have some experience, this is a great opportunity for all ages to learn and enjoy the outdoors. Rods, tackle, bait, and instructions all provided! Registration required here.

Halloween-Themed Contests! Submissions for both contests can be found at the Elkins Park Library (563 Church Rd, Elkins Park, PA 19027) and the Glenside Library (215 S Keswick Ave, Glenside, PA 19038) and will be accepted from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31.
- Two-Sentence Horror: Write the scariest story in two sentences. This contest will see which teen can tell Cheltenham’s most chilling story. The winner will receive a gift card and free book! Look for the submissions box and directions on how to enter the contest in the Teen Area.
- Monster Bookmark: Calling all tween artists! Draw the silliest, scariest, or most spectacular monster bookmark, and the winning design will be printed for patrons to take home. Look for the instructions and templates in the Children’s Area. You can also submit your design electronically by emailing a PNG or JPG to ctlsyouth@mclinc.org.
Stop, Drop & Run 5K: Be sure to register for the Glenside Fire Co.’s upcoming 5K run & Walk! Don’t miss this awesome event that benefits the all-volunteer Glenside Fire Co. Elkins Park Friends of the Library Seeking Donations: The Elkins Park Friends of the Library are seeking donations for their upcoming book sales. Please limit your drop off to 3 bags or boxes. They are looking for CDs, DVDs, vintage magazines (pre-1970), comic books and graphic novels, current software, LPs, and all kinds of books. They are not looking for readers’ digest condensed books, old textbooks (including law and medical books), scratched or jacket-less records, encyclopedias, and heavily notated or damaged books.

Save the Date – Community Fair at Wall House! Every autumn, the Richard Wall House hosts a Community Fair and Grand Open House. This event is free and open to the public, and this year’s will be the largest yet! Bring your family so they can participate in several hands-on activities like papermaking, colonial spycraft, and learning from a blacksmith! Several community organizations will also be in attendance. Live music and a food truck will round out your experience.

Jenkintown Food Cupboard Thanksgiving Drive: The Jenkintown Food Cupboard is asking for donations to help local families prepare for Thanksgiving and the winter holidays. Community Day: Join Springfield Township for a day filled with family fun for all! This event features fishing at Hillcrest Pond, face painting, inflatables, balloon creations and surprise guests! Fall Storytimes: Join us for stories, songs, rhymes and fun! No registration required. Pre-School Storytime, suggested for children ages 3 to 5 with a caregiver, will take place Mondays at 10:30 a.m. starting on Sept. 9, while Baby/Toddler Storytime, suggested for children ages 2 and under with a caregiver, will take place Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. starting Sept. 12. There will be no sessions on Oct. 14 or Oct. 17.

Save the Date – Teen Craft Fair! Are you a teen in grades 6 to 12? Do you have a skill or hobby? Do you bake, sew, or knit? Sign up for a ½ or whole table for the Springfield Free Library’s Fall Teen Craft Fair and show off what you can do! Space is limited, please register here. Student Snow Shovel Registry: Springfield Township is planning ahead for the wintertime and is now accepting registrations for their 2024-25 Student Snow Shovel Registry! This is a great opportunity to make some money while also helping other residents who may be unable to shovel snow themselves.
All transactions are by private agreement between the resident and the student. The registry is limited to middle and high school students only. Students under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian’s permission. Register online here, or visit the Township Administration Building for paper applications.
