Invasive Species Clean-Up Day

Girl Scout troop 7142 is having Invasive Species Clean-Up Day this Saturday, June 13, 10am-1pm at Robinson Park! Come out and help them clean up invasive species at Robinson Park! 

Meet neighbors, make friends, discover all that this 11-acre native green space has to offer. FHSP is a nonprofit volunteer-based organization that depends on the community to help steward this beautiful Township park.

Please remember to wear long pants, closed toe shoes, and a hat.  Friends of High School Park will provide tools and gloves, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Cheltenham Juneteenth Festival

The Cheltenham African American Alliance (CAAA) and Cheltenham School District invite residents to the fifth annual Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom Festival on June 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cheltenham High School. 

This free, family-friendly event will feature live music, food, games, face painting, a moon bounce, a game truck, and more as the community comes together to celebrate freedom, culture, and history.

Second Annual Firefly & Solstice Celebration

Celebrate the first day of summer at the Friends of Robinson Park's Second Annual Firefly & Solstice Celebration!

Join The Friends of Robinson Park on Saturday, June 20, from 6:00 p.m. until dusk for a free, family-friendly evening of community, nature, and summer magic. Enjoy floral crown and garland making, fairy-inspired fun, and the chance to watch fireflies light up the park at dusk.

Feel free to bring a blanket or chair, a beverage, and a dish to share. Fairy wings and midsummer attire are encouraged for all ages!

Reading Buddies is coming back to the Glenside Library!

Join their 6-week program that promotes literacy and community. Young readers will partner with a teen volunteer and take turns reading their favorite stories out loud. This is great for both new and reluctant readers and teens who want to inspire learning.

Thursdays, June 25 to July 30 @ 6:30 to 7:00 pm

Ages 5-10 for young readers, Registration required

Permit Parking Enforcement Begins July 1st in Cheltenham

Cheltenham Township offers both Residential and Commercial Parking Permit Programs to improve access to parking within designated areas and support neighborhood residents and local businesses. 

Residential permits provide eligible residents with access to permit parking areas, while commercial permits are available to employees of local merchants seeking a convenient alternative to daily or hourly parking payments.

Cop Camp Registration Now Open!

Cop Camp is back! Cadets ages 8-10 years old are invited to spend three days with CTPD to learn all about police work and build camaraderie with new friends and their local police officers.

Church Road and Greenwood Avenue Improvement Project

Traffic Alert: Road Closures Through July 2, 2026

PennDOT and Cheltenham Township have announced major road closures and delays related to ongoing construction through July 2, 2026.

Jenkintown Borough Institutes Single Use Plastic Bag Ban

On March 25, 2026, Jenkintown Borough Council passed a new ordinance to reduce plastic waste in the community.

Starting July 23, 2026:

  • Stores may no longer provide single-use plastic bags
  • Customers are encouraged to bring reusable bags
  • Paper or reusable bags may be offered for at least $0.10
  • Stores will switch to compostable straws and stirrers (plastic straws available upon request)

Robotics Demo at the Springfield Library

In celebration of America 250 we are traveling around the regions of the United States.  We’ll visit the Western region first! 

We are going to travel the Oregon Trail through an escape room game; make Candy Sushi to celebrate the fresh fish markets of San Diego. Snacks and crafts representing this region will also be available.

McKelvie Park Basketball Courts Temporarily Closed

Beginning on Monday, June 1st through Friday, June 19th, McKelvie Park Basketball Courts in Oreland will be closed for resurfacing.

We ask residents to avoid the courts while resurfacing activities are being accomplished. We apologize for any inconvenience, yet look forward to refurbished courts in time for summer!

Springfield Township Public Forum Series

The Springfield Township Police Department and Board of Commissioners have launched a quarterly public safety forum to keep residents informed and encourage community discussion.

The first session focused on cybercrime and fraud prevention. The upcoming session is on Traffic Laws, speed education and enforcement. It aims to give attendees an opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and connect with local police officers and public officials.

Reading Buddies at the Springfield Library

Children in grades K to 5 can help build reading skills and confidence by reading one-on-one with a teen mentor at the library! Registration is required. Sign up for a 30-minute time slot and read with one of our teen volunteers.
