Church Road and Greenwood Avenue Improvement Project
Traffic Alert and Multiple Road Closures: PennDOT and Cheltenham Township have notified our office construction has begun and will last through July 2nd, 2026. SIGNIFICANT delays are to be expected:
- Wednesday, October 15th, through Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, westbound Route 73 (Church Road) will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Rices Mill Road and the Curtis Arboretum entrance. During the closure, motorists will be directed to Washington Lane, Route 309 (Cheltenham Avenue), Ogontz Avenue, and Easton Road.
- Wednesday, October 15th, through Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, southbound Greenwood Avenue will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Spruce Lane and Barker Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Township Line Road, Washington Lane, Route 309 (Cheltenham Avenue) and Ogontz Avenue.
Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times, including Hillcrest Center, Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, and Curtis Arboretum. Motorists are advised to allow EXTRA time when traveling near work areas, delays WILL occur. All activities are weather dependent.

Waverly Bridge Replacement Project
Waverly Bridge Replacement Project ROAD CLOSURE
A full closure of E. Waverly Road between S. Keswick Ave and Rices Mill Road started Friday, February 13 for the replacement of Montgomery County Bridge 275 over the Tookany Creek, adjacent to Glenside Memorial Hall. A full detour will be implemented using S. Keswick Avenue and E. Glenside Avenue.
The bridge will be closed to all vehicles, but pedestrian access to Glenside Hall will be maintained through the completion of the project.
Additional details regarding the project site and detour are available on the County's project website. The project is expected to be completed in April 2028.

Roadwork and Utility Update: Kehoe Trench Restoration
PECO Trench Restoration Work - Kehoe Construction
Starting Monday, February 2, Kehoe Construction will be performing trench restoration at the below locations, weather-permitting. Work hours will be 7:30am-4pm.
- Foxcroft Rd from Old York Rd to Township Line Rd
- Shoemaker Rd from Upland Rd to High School Rd
- Upland Rd from Shoemaker Rd to High School Rd
- Westview Rd from Cadwalader Ave to High School Rd

Cheltenham Libraries are Seeking Teen Volunteers!
Teens! Want more volunteering opportunities? They are now hosting monthly volunteer sessions at Glenside Library! Come in and create crafts, book reviews, shelf talkers, help with cleaning, gardening, and more.
For March, they are going to make a fun scavenger hunt for kids as well as design bookmarks for patrons with fun characters like Dog Man and Percy Jackson.

Cheltenham Celebrates America 250
At the Public Affairs Committee meeting on December 10, 2025, Parks and Recreation Director Bill Salvatore revealed the Township's lineup of monthly events making up Cheltenham's year-long celebration of America 250 - the nation's semi-quincentennial year. Click here for a list of events.

This yearlong celebration is meant to showcase Cheltenham's rich history, architectural heritage, and abundant green spaces for Township residents and visitors alike through a variety of events.
The Township encourages participation at all events to collect exclusive commemorative coins made for each event, collectible for display in a special Cheltenham Celebrates America 250 "passport" coin-book!

SAVE THE DATE: Cheltenham Township Founders Day Celebration
Celebrate Cheltenham's 1682 Founding, part of Cheltenham's Celebrations for America 250 in 2026, at the historic Elkins Estate, Sunday, March 8th, from 4-7p.m.
Enjoy a tour of the mansion and grounds, along with a reception and cocktail hour, with a brief speaking program and music from a Gilded Age-inspired band.

Love Your Dog? Then make sure to get them licensed! If your dog gets loose and we find it, then we can look at the license to get them back safely to you.

Drop off broken string lights at Jenkintown Borough Hall for recycling. There is a yellow recycling bin designated for string lights.

Reading Buddies at the Springfield Library
Children in grades K to 5 can help build reading skills and confidence by reading one-on-one with a teen mentor at the library! Registration is required. Sign up for a 30-minute time slot and read with one of our teen volunteers.
Please note this is not a tutoring program to teach children how to read; this program is for reading practice and mentorship. Available dates and times below.
