Nelson weekly update for Dec. 13, 2024: Supporting those that need us the most

Happy weekend, folks!

Please keep our community in the front of your minds this weekend. Shop small. Greet the kids with some extra holiday cheer. Tip generously. Support our food cupboards. Reach out to your neighbors. This is what I think a great community looks and feels like during the holiday season (and always).

As a government official, I know that I have a role to play as well. It is in these moments that I want to Supoo. I hope this sounds like a broken record, but it’s getting cold, and Montgomery County has initiated their Code Blue plan thru Monday, Dec. 16. If you or a friend are unhoused or without adequate heat, contact us or call the Your Way Home call center at 610-278-3522.

If you have friends or family members that are having trouble putting food on their table, contact us.

If you have friends of family members that are struggling to light up a child’s face this Holiday season, contact us.

My prayer is that each of us will do what is needed to care for all of us during these weeks. If you believe that you’re alone and in need of help, I and my team are here for you and take gratitude in being able to assist others. We each have a role to play as neighbors and we’re grateful for the privilege to do ours.

 Happy Holidays! Go Birds!
