Madsen announces $180,000 to strengthen Steelton’s financial management

HARRISBURG, Oct. 22 – State Rep. Dave Madsen, D-Dauphin, today announced that Steelton has been awarded $180,000 through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Strategic Management Planning Program.

“This grant will help Steelton modernize its financial systems and ensure that the borough is on a sustainable path for the future,” Madsen said. “Strong financial management is key to protecting taxpayers and ensuring we can deliver the services our community relies on.”

This funding will support upgrades to the borough's financial software and provide resources for consultants to help develop and implement comprehensive financial policies.

The $180,000 grant is part of a $1.3 million statewide investment by the Shapiro administration, aimed at building financial resiliency in 18 municipalities across Pennsylvania. Through the STMP, local governments can access up to $200,000 in matching grants to develop multi-year financial strategies, set both short- and long-term goals, and strengthen their overall financial capacity.
