Madsen appointed vice chair of Housing and Community Development Committee

HARRISBURG, Oct. 23 – State Rep. Dave Madsen, D-Dauphin, has been appointed by House Speaker Joanna McClinton to serve as vice chair of the Housing and Community Development Committee.

“With the role of majority vice chairman comes an increased responsibility and opportunity to be a leading voice for the communities facing housing, development, and economic growth issues,” said Madsen. “I’m excited to advance policies that ensure affordable housing and safer communities to create better lives for Pennsylvanian families.”

The Housing and Community Development Committee, established in 2023 to replace the Urban Affairs Committee, focuses on reviewing legislation related to cities and counties of the first, second, and third class.

Madsen said he is committed to ensuring fair housing practices and has introduced H.B 1549 to help protect tenets facing relocations due to code violations. In addition to the Housing and Community Development Committee, Madsen serves on the Appropriations, Gaming Oversight, Human Services, Local Government, and Committee on Committees.
