HARRISBURG, Oct. 3 – The 104th Legislative District is gearing up for a Cybersecurity Safety Seminar, an event that promises to empower residents with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the digital landscape securely.

State Rep. Dave Madsen, D-Dauphin, said he is proud to host this event scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 7 at the AFSCME Conference Center, located at 150 S. 43rd St. in Harrisburg.

“In an age where our lives are increasingly intertwined with the digital realm, the need for cybersecurity awareness has never been more vital,” Madsen said. “I cannot emphasize enough the importance of staying informed in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.”

Representatives from the state Attorney General's office will join this informative seminar to educate residents on how to safeguard themselves from online threats and scams. The event will cover a range of topics, including:

  • Best practices for securing your digital presence.
  • Creating and using strong passwords.
  • Identifying and thwarting phishing attempts.
  • Safeguarding sensitive data.

“The Cybersecurity Safety Seminar is not just an opportunity to learn but also a chance to network with cybersecurity experts and law enforcement agencies,” Madsen said. “Building these connections can prove invaluable for constituents, offering a network of support and resources in case of cyber incidents.”
