WEST VIEW, Nov. 13 – State Rep. Emily Kinkead announced today a $300,000 state grant was awarded for downtown West View Borough, focusing on essential accessibility and safety improvements.
The revitalization project will transform the downtown corridor with new ADA-compliant sidewalks and concrete curbs, restored mid-block crossings with improved safety features, enhanced wayfinding signage, and additional site amenities for residents and visitors.
"This investment in downtown West View isn't just about new sidewalks – it's about creating a more inclusive and welcoming community for everyone," said Kinkead, D-Allegheny. "By improving accessibility and safety in our business district, we're ensuring that all residents, from families with young children to our seniors, can safely and comfortably enjoy everything our downtown has to offer."
“West View’s downtown corridor is the backbone of the community, hosting small businesses, resources like the West View HUB, and community celebrations like the annual Halloween Parade,” said state Sen. Lindsey Williams, D-Allegheny. “By prioritizing complete streets that focus on pedestrian infrastructure, West View is ensuring that downtown is accessible for everyone, whether they’re coming to work, play or shop. I’m proud to support these efforts and to live in a community that embraces multimodal transportation.”
Funding for this grant comes from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
